I Don’t Know How

I Don’t Know How

Written by Douglas Firestein

In this musical climate
My old jams are stale
I’ve got men in black suits
Bitchin’ about my sales

I helped build this up
The label should be mine
But I have to prove myself
Just one final time

Please grant me space
Time to hone my craft
I may have lost my mojo
I’m trying to get it back

I’m turning the page
On the songbook of life
They say I was wrong
But it always felt right

I’m not the kind of man
Who ever feels put down
But its hard to be me
When i’m trying to sell out
I don’t….know…. how

If numbers are climbing
An increase in fan mail
I might convince them
To just let me be real

I knew the time would come
When I couldn’t win a fight
Using fists and words
And I guess it’s tonight

Please grant me peace
The chance to laugh
At the man I don’t know
In the mirror looking back

I’m turning the page
On the songbook of life
They say I was wrong
But it always felt right

I’m not the kind of man
Who ever feels put down
But its hard to be me
When i’m trying to sell out
I don’t….know…. how

I don’t know, baby
I’m trying so hard
Will it work, maybe?
I don’t like this new start

I’m turning the page
On the songbook of life
They say I was wrong
But it always felt right

I’m not the kind of man
Who ever feels put down
But its hard to be me
When i’m trying to sell out
I don’t….know…. how
