Sexy Scents

Sexy Scents

In April of 1976, I auditioned to be the spokesperson for a new deodorant named “Fetching”.  It was marketed as “the scent of sexy” with a target demographic of men obsessed with disco.

The deodorant company hired a photographer and his wife whose business also included catering the shoots.  While I was being photographed, I couldn’t help but notice his wife making eyes at me.  I could tell she wanted to audition Little Dougie to fill another role.

When the photographer went to the truck to grab more film, she asked me to help her in the other room.  I walked in and she started to get down on her knees in front of me.  I stopped her halfway and said “you gotta protect them knees, baby”.  I pulled a sandwich off the table, tossed the meat, then placed each slice on the floor.

I looked at her, grinned, then said “lunch time”.  As I started unbuckling my belt, she crouched down and reached under the table.  She pulled out a box and grabbed a deodorant stick of a different color.  Apparently, they wanted to do a few different shots with different scents.

I didn’t get the job.
