No Wings
Written by Douglas Firestein
My name is Doug
I live across the street
Someone’s in my basement
They can not breathe
I could use some help
If you have time to spare
To put them in my trunk
They’re too heavy for the stairs
Don’t ask any questions
It’s best you don’t know
You aren’t an accomplice
Just someone who helped
When the car hits 60
Coming up on a cliff
We’ll undo our seat belts
Because it’s time to eject
Watching as it plummets
Disappointment grows in me
It wasn’t like the television
The car didn’t grow no wings!
First name is Doug
Last is Firestein
I witnessed the crime
It was the man beside me
He asked for me to help
If I had time to spare
Then put a gun in my face
It had me really scared
When the car hits 60
Coming up on a cliff
We’ll undo our seat belts
Because it’s time to eject
Watching as it plummets
Disappointment grows in me
It wasn’t like the television
The car didn’t grow no wings!
The cops bought the lie
Now that man sits in jail
I’m consoling his wife
My plan has prevailed
When the car hits 60
Coming up on a cliff
We’ll undo our seat belts
Because it’s time to eject
Watching as it plummets
Disappointment grows in me
It wasn’t like the television
The car didn’t grow no wings!
