Festival of Lights

Festival of Lights

Written by Douglas Firestein

Hear the children sing
The sound of laughter abound
As they play with the gifts
Older siblings handed down

Times are tight for suckas
Runnin’ games on the street
Puttin’ themselves before family
Now they gotta answer to me

Goodbye darkness
Hello light

Cut a hole in their chest
Insert a Christmas star
Run the power out their ass
Light them up out in the yard

All of the neighbors will point
Raise a glass of nog and cheer
At the festival of lights
I made for them this year

Hear the bells ring
All the way downtown
The spirit gradually lifts
As angels walk the ground

The roar of nearby truckers
Bringing gifts to those who need
The food is for their bellies
But the lights are there to see

Goodbye darkness
Hello light

Cut a hole in their chest
Insert a Christmas star
Run the power out their ass
Light them up out in the yard

All of the neighbors will point
Raise a glass of nog and cheer
At the festival of lights
I made for them this year

I’m gonna cover my eyes
Pull the hood over my head
They’ll be lighting up the sky
This 12th day of death

Cut a hole in their chest
Insert a Christmas star
Run the power out their ass
Light them up out in the yard

All of the neighbors will point
Raise a glass of nog and cheer
At the festival of lights
I made for them this year
